Player Ship Systems

BP_LandingPad is purely cosmetic. BP_LandingPadTerminal is likely deprecated. It used to set a flag when “plugged in” that kenny checked before actually setting the “call the ship in” flag.

Landing pad controller

BP_LandingPadController listens for the “call in the ship” flag and communicates with BP_PlayerShip

It also updates LandingPadsVisited with the same flag (used for fast travel menu).

If the flag is freshly set (via bot), a looping timer is set to wait for the player to look in the general direction of BP_LandingPadController actor with the intent of playing the cinematic only when it is in view. There are no controls for this yet, may not be needed.

Spawning the ship on a level

Everything comes down to a singular flag: (WorldName)LandingPad

In Summer, Kenny’s BT actually sets the flag when his quest is complete.

The ONLY actor that listens for this flag (as far as actually summoning the ship) is the BP_LandingPadController. It orchestrates the whole shebang.

Landing sequence

BP_PlayerShip has slots for a level sequence for landing. If one is present, it will play that sequence when BP_LandingPadController hears the landing pad flag (in game).
